About Us
Promoting and supporting the development of bilateral trade and investment between Australia and Vietnam
The West Australian Vietnam Business Council (WAVBC) promotes and supports the development of bilateral trade and investment between Australia and Vietnam. We are proud to have a pivotal function in providing invaluable business and cultural support to our partners and members’ by encouraging cultural exchanges between the business communities of Western Australia and Vietnam.
The WAVBC actively co-ordinates an annual program of business seminars, networking, and social functions within Western Australia and Vietnam.
WAVBC Business Tour Opportunities
As Vietnam continues to emerge as one of Asia’s fastest growing economies there is an increasing global interest in learning more about Vietnams ability to become a trusted partner in the growing array of global trade and investment markets. Given today’s environment of advanced communication technologies, the value of establishing sustainable ‘face to face’ relationships still remains a high priority with many Vietnamese businesses, when engaging with potential partners or customers.
A key WAVBC strategy is to arrange and host two-way business tours for our West Australian and Vietnamese partners so they can experience ‘first hand’ Vietnamese or West Australian local business cultures and eco systems. WAVBC has an ever-growing network of Vietnamese business men and women across Vietnam who are keen to welcome business visitors from Western Australia.
Business tours to Western Australia from Vietnam provide an opportunity not only to enhance relationships but to promote Western Australia as an ‘open for business’ destination. In Vietnam, for too long there has been a mindset focussed on Australia’s eastern states and having Vietnamese business tours coming to Western Australia will greatly assist with spreading the word.

Whilst in Margaret River for the Emergence Creative I took the opportunity to take Binh Ho Thai (WAVBC Ho Chi Minh City Ambassador) to visit Rob Currell the Cellar Door Manager of Juniper Wines.
It was a very timely visit as recently our WAVBC member and WA wine exporter Bruce Cussen recently spent time in Vietnam working with ‘Wine Australia’ to start the process of promoting West Australian wines in a growing market where existing trade agreements will experience a reduction in wine tariffs by 2028.

Today in Ho Chi Minh City a ‘Cooperation Agreement’ was signed between the WAVBC and the Vietnam Business Club ASEAN Global (VNAG). With VNAG having over 2,000 members in Vietnam this now provides a great opportunity for the WAVBC to extend its B2B networks into Vietnam whilst also adding value to the WAVBC membership.
