Vietnamese Consul-General to Perth Bùi Quốc Thành recently attained the title of Ambassador – the highest rank in the Foreign Service honored by the Party and State of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. Mr Thanh is a career diplomat who, prior to his current post in Perth, Australia from May 2019, served as Vietnam’s first Assistant Director-General of the Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (1993-1996), Vietnamese Third Secretary in Berlin, Germany (2000-2003) and Vietnam’s Consul-General to Fukuoka, Japan (2013-2016).
WAVBC President David Morgan commended Mr. Thanh on his accreditation saying “Vietnamese Consul Generals are well regarded for their pioneering spirit and we congratulate Mr Thanh on attaining the rank of Ambassador which is true recognition of his personal contributions and many wonderful international achievements supporting Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs”.
